Around Singapore: River Hongbao 2014

River Hongbao has been an annual iconic event and an integral part of Singapore’s Lunar New Year celebrations, presenting a truly unique Chinese cultural experience for Singaporeans and tourists.

To be honest, I wasn’t expecting anything extraordinary before going, but boy was I glad I went. Everyone involved to should take a bow as it was truly amazing. PLUS I got to touch the god of prosperity so that means a year of good luck, right? :)DSC02585DSC02584

Absolutely gorgeous lights!

I got some stuff

This morning, I officially squeezed out the last of my vitalumiere aqua and I knew this was going to be the day..i go to the shops. But it’s also been a really stressful few weeks for me, and I thought it was a good time for some retail therapy. So i got some stuff.

DSC02401Chanel Vitalumiere Aqua in B40, Fresh Sugar Lip Treatment, Philosophy Shower Gel.

Vitalumiere Aqua is my all time favourite, desert island product that I discovered in early 2012. I sometimes steer towards other foundations but always come back to this. I don’t want to think how many i’ve bought but I love it that much! This line seems to offer the best colour match for me and the product itself is easy to blend, lasts all day and provides the perfect natural-looking medium coverage.

Now, I didn’t plan on buying this but i’ve been wanting a good lip balm that I can use on the go for ages. And I like this a lot! The packaging is really user-friendly and chic and the product itself feels very nice on the lips.

Philosophy always comes out with amazing scents for Christmas and I picked up and feel in love with this body lotion a few weeks ago-  an incredible warm-sweet scent called Honey Buns. I love the scent so much that I decided to bring home the shower gel version while it was still around. They’re expensive products that really don’t contain the best ingredients but the scent is heavenly, so i’m definitely looking forward to using them :)

Everything I need to know, I learned from watching Gilmore Girls

Everything I need to know, I learned from watching Gilmore Girls

1. The best way to make friends in university is to have a dorm party and order all the food available in a 2-kilometer radius..

Because who doesn’t like to bond over Chinese food and rating the cuteness of the Ben & Jerry’s delivery guy.

2. The best way to make decisions is by writing a pro-con list..

Choosing between Harvard, Yale and Princeton is tough, and there is no better way to make a decision that by using a pro-con list. Do NOT mock the sciencificity of the process.

3. Too much coffee will never kill you..

We get to, you know, do stupid things faster with more energy.

4. Keep a safe distance from your parents..

Lorelai has a theory. It’s the how much time you can spend with your parents before you might kill them theory. Please follow it, for the love of all things good.

5. “I’m currently one of the women sitting at home, thinking ‘if only I could find a man like Aragorn” and it’s OK..

Lorelai showed that women indeed do run the world.

6. Direct democracy is the best form of government..

Town meetings managed to solve issues from “whether Lorelai should be dating Luke” to “whether the street names should be changed”. Take that, Parliament.

7. “Behold, in theatres now, the thing that reads a lot!”..

When life gets dull, there is nothing more rewarding that living in your own world of books.

8. Money does not but happiness..

Exchanging a fancy coat hanger for a monkey lamp however, does.

9. Babbette ate oatmeal..

Cherish the little things in life
